With a mission to preserve one of Madeira’s most iconic traditions, Bordal has become a reference in the production and export of Madeira Embroidery.
Supported by over 400 artisans who work directly with the brand, Bordal ensures that this centuries-old art remains vibrant and alive, with the same meticulous process passed down through generations.
Bordal’s archive is remarkable, housing over 60,000 original embroidery designs, a true library of creativity. In addition to preserving historic patterns, Bordal continues to innovate, creating new designs that blend tradition with modern flair. Each piece is hand-embroidered, making every item a unique work of art.
At Bordal’s factory in Funchal, visitors can immerse themselves in the
Historical Madeira Embroidery Tour, known as the "Living Museum." This space allows guests to delve into the history of this craft, with displays of old photographs, sketches, stamps, and traditional tools used in the embroidery process. The museum is a tribute to the skilled artisans whose work keeps this cultural heritage alive.
Bordal also offers the opportunity to create bespoke, custom-made pieces tailored to clients’ needs. From small keepsakes to large orders, each piece is crafted with the precision and care that only hand-made work can deliver.
